i see offers for adding ram as a software tool?

No you cannot but you can increase your virtual memory. The maximum limit on your virtual memory is twice the size of your ram. And yea ram is a hardware so you need to add it to your system and there is no other solution to it.

RAM is a hardware, it is not a software. There might be tools that might improve your RAMS performance, but you cannot increase your RAM without opening your tower and installing them.

RAM - Random Access Memory.

They come in flat portions which are chipsets.

They are hardware. You cannot work around that.

It will explain paging to you. This should help your RAM problem a little bit. This is what a computer does instead of dying, when your RAM usage increases beyond your capacity.
