I know, right?

very frustrating!

Once when i lived in a house (now I'm in an apt) these people came by and offered to paint the numbers real big and reflecty on the curb, but for a FEE. I don't remember how much it was, but I told them 'no thanks'. I really should have done it though.

It should really be standardized and required, not optional.
It should also be FREE, paid for by the city (from the taxes you pay), or maybe included as a service from the homeowner's association (which you also pay annual fees to).

good question.

Here's the deal, straight from my friend the fireman.Cuz I asked him that one day. He said they don't need addresses. They have maps that show the location of the house on the street. All they have to do is count houses, not look for numbers. If I had that kind of thing when I delivered pizza years ago, a lot of people wouldn't have gotten cold food. Of course, they do get it wrong sometimes, which is my greatest fear. I'm afraid that the police will bust into my house one night by mistake when they have the camera crew for Cops with them and my house will be a mess on national TV.
