My favorite painter is Maxfield Parrish, and I'm especially fond of "The Lantern Bearers" by him. it reminds me of my childhood, and it's warmth and emotion never fails to touch me. What's your favorite painting, who's it by, and why do you like it?

Hopper's 'Nighthawks'. I know it's not a scene from Chicago he painted, but it feels like it. Three -maybe- four o'clock in the morning, the desperation - the isolation, the loneliness.
Every time I stare into the painting, I feel like I'm staring into my soul.
Sometimes the greatest work of art isn't what makes you feel good, it's just what makes you feel - period.

John Singer Sargent. Carnation, lily, lily, rose. The painting was painted live on the spot over couple of days at sunset. The colors are fabulous and the lanters and light glow on the girls faces is increadable.

I have too many favorites to just name one. But, I really like Rembrandt's late self portraits, specifically the one at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, CA. I also like Picasso's blue self portrait, Van Gogh's swirly self portrait (the blue/green one) Eakins' Dr. Gross painting, Manet's Ragpicker, Gauguin's Tahiti paintings, nevermind, I can't list them all!

I don't really like most art but I love Gustav Klimt. My favorites of his are The Kiss and the Stoclet frise. I like the way he uses metallics in his work. The Kiss seems to me to just capture all that is good about love.

So so many. I love "Flaming June" by Frederick Leighton because it completely evokes a feeling of warmth and fantasy for me. I also love many pieces by Frida Kahlo - her work is so strong and emotional. I also like several pieces by Matisse, but the names escape me right now...
