No, not at all. However, since you and your husband are to show a united front, you should be as active as possible. Most Officer's wives are the commanders as their level of pay allows them to not work. I realize this is a major stereotype but it is how it started out. I have Friends who could not be FRG leaders simply because they worked full time careers and could not find time to do it. That said, I don't know your situation. If there is someone else who has the time to do it and is willing to, I say let them do it. However if you are in a situation where you have more time and experience then the other wives, I would do it. Trust me, know one will care if you are shy or flustered when you handle it as long as you get them the information they need.

As an Army Wife, the FRG leader should be the person the Commander thinks will do well in that position and has the time. My husband was the Commander and I wanted to be the leader but I also encouraged ALL other spouses to be very involved and offered leadership opportunities within the FRG. Good leaders should do that. It wasn't about me leading, it was about what I could for the spouses and teach them for future responsibilities.

our FRG leader is not the commander's wife. i think the woman who leads the FRG should be someone who is willing and passionate about the families of the unit. we need a woman who is going to be there for the other spouses and show great leadership and direction for new spouses. i don't believe a private or a specialist's wife is going to be the best for that because they just haven't been around long enough to know all the ins and outs of being in the military and having a military family. but i don't think it should fall on the commander's wife's shoulders if she does not want to do or there is another woman just as qualified that wants to step up and do it.

I'm not sure what that is but no. Why should she be a leader just because her husband is a leader. She should earn her own place. What do the army husbands do during this groups meetings? There are women in the army you know.

I dont think so. They should have nominees and have people vote for the leader of the FGR group. That would be the most fair thing for everyone in the group. Maybe they already have a Family Readiness Group leader. It would be kind of rude to push somebody aside that is already a FGR group leader.

NO!!!...lol..isnt always that way though...This was a few years ago but Our commander happened to be single so he appointed me in charge. My husband was not the ranking soldier next in line to him so some of the ladies were pissed, but we had so much fun!!!! My husband is enlisted not an officer, so I didn't have to deal with all the political BS they had to do...lol

no, not at all.

Remember, wives have no rank. Whoever is most capable should do it.
