I ordered from a local restaurant what was listed as CLUB on the menu expecting the classic Chicken or Turkey sandwich but got the above with only HAM. The menu did not list any ingredients.

Yes, with regard to free will, sure you can call it anything you want. I guess better wording would be "is it appropriate to call it a CLUB without any description of ingredients if it differs from the traditional or classic club?"

No. A club is bacon and chicken/turkey, tomato, lettuce and mayo... sometimes cheese. And to be authentic it should be a double decker. You got ripped off.

A club sandwich is usually defined by its size, not its ingredients----it's made with three slices of bread instead of two.
