Hi, i had this problem coz im getting married next year and didnt know what colour to have, but at the end of the day its up to you, There are gorgeous dresses in all colours, i say wear what you feel comfortable with, when trying my dress on i added a bit of a selection of colour. There is nothing wrong with having a coloured weddding dress, Purple is a gorgeous colour if the colour looked good on me then i would have a purple wedding dress as my favourite colour is purple. I tried a red wedding dress on the other day and it was gorgeous but i didnt like the style of the dress. So ive opted for ivory even though it does look white. People only only go for white coz its tradition but theres nothing wrong with purple, it can still look stunning, at the end of the day you and your husband to be are the centre of attention and you should wear whatever you want

You should do what you like best. I actually want a pink wedding dress but after I tried them on- I looked like an old lady sitting with her cats and waiting for her prom date who never showed 10 years later..... I am almost 30 so I had to go for something a little more classical and less puff and frills.
My suggestion is- try on lot of dress in all different colors and styles... take pictures if you can.
As I have heard from most brides and the same goes for me. When you find that dress you'll just KNOW it's the one. Because it will flatter you, it will feel good and it will look good.
And don't try on anything that is not in your price range or you'll be hurting yourself. Also- you might want to try a costume shop for something more historical in the purple range. Medieval wedding dress were purple, blue and red- traditionally.

I'm in the same boat !!!
Everybody has one colour over all others, that suits them and makes them shine - mine is turquoise and I'm guessing that yours maybe purple ?!
Everybody notices and says I look good when I wear turquoise and it made me realise that to look my best on my wedding day, this is the colour I should be wearing, and not white, cream or ivory !!
Friends say, wear what you want, its your day. Mum says what if some of the guests are wearing turquoise, I will not stand out as the bride should do, as oppose to if I wore white etc. - but then, my dress would be far more elaborate than anything a guest would wear.
The best day of your life, you want to look your best, and if it means wearing a colour that brings the best in you, there is your answer !
Have a wonderful wedding and a great marriage !

Wear what makes you the happiest. This is your big day and something you will remember for the rest of your life. If wearing purple (which is my fave) or any other beautiful color is what will make your day all that more special to you, then go for it. The days of "white or ivory only" are certainly over. Don't do it just because everyone else says so. If that's what they want done, tell them to do it for their own wedding. Make a decision you won't regret. After all, it's you that must ultimately be happy. :)

It's any girl's dream to wear white on her wedding day, it's a symbol for purity & it's traditional & classic. If you don't like white wear off-white or ivory or very light pink or any very light color that's close to white. But if you're adventurous enough you can wear any color but it should match the decorations at the reception & the flowers. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable as it's your day & it's never about clothes. this day is a start & that is what really matters. Good luck.

You must wear whatever you want - red can look fantastic. Maybe you would suit a champagne colour or you could have white with another colour and matching flowers. I am wearing white by choice for my second wedding and I am mid forties, I don't care if people think it's not right, Its my day!
Good luck

White is traditional and all brides look beautiful in it. If you're going to go with a purple dress, make sure your immediate family and fiancee know about it. Personally, I would say stick to white. It just doesn't look right if you don't wear white. Trust me - in the years to come when you look back on the pictures, if you didn't choose white, you'll think about how immature a decision that was.

The best color for the bride is white, means you are the center. If you choose purple, pink, sky blue. There are visitor or your friends wearing the same as you. No one will wear a gown of white. Only you. Dont change the tradition, white means cleanliness and virginity. Just wear white, just have a different style. Congrats!!1

Go for the color. My wedding dress is pastel pink but I had considered a pale yellow. Wear what makes you feel good, it's your day so don't fall into the trap of wearing traditional white if you're not a traditional woman. For me wearing a colorful dress is just who I am...contemporary, clean lines, creative, outspoken, sexy and etc. Most couples are selecting colorful dresses for their wedding...I've been to several wedding showcases and everyone loves the idea of bringing the wedding to life with color. Good luck on your special day!

I always thought weddings were like a funerals and thought about wearing a black wedding dress if I ever got married. But I have a feeling that I'm going to be single for life anyways so no worries.
