What do women do in war?

It's not that women cannot hack it in combat, but that men cannot handle women in combat. What I mean by that is if you have women out in the field, you must also have women doctors, counselors, etc. They're also succeptable to rape and/or pregnancy. And lastly a male soldier/marine will tend to lag behind to look over a wounded female than her counterpart. So those are some of the reasons that men and women cannot fight hand to hand direct combat.
I believe our military should have female companies without men. We like to blow sh*t up too! hoo rah.

Can you imagine what the terrorists would do with a Female U.S. soldier??? Plus, the American people have a hard enough time thinking about a missing male soldier and the torture he must be going through. Imagine if it were a cute young woman sitting on the ground blindfolded with a sword to her throat, bloodied, bruised and probably raped a couple of times. You think the American people have the stomach for that?

BTW, after reading some earlier posts it should be clarified: WOMEN ARE NOT ALLOWED IN COMBAT POSITIONS UNLESS THEY'RE PILOTS. Working as part of a well-protected supply convoy is not real "combat duty". How many women have you seen manning an M-60 machine gun while patrolling the streets of Baghdad? Exactly, none.

And for the earlier post that cited G.I. Jane as a reference ... GI JANE IS A MOVIE, NOT REALITY!!!!!

Well technically no, they are not allowed in combat units. But they do get attached to combat units all the time, which puts them in combat sometimes. When under fire everyone has to fight. There are how ever combat pilots that are women and some of the higher ranking officers are in charge of combat units. High ranking officers don't normally fight in actual combat. It is just a standard that will probably go away in the next 20 years or so.

well in the army this is NOT true. the only truth in it is that women cannot be in infantry companies. but that does NOT mean that they are not in combat. i was an MP and i served in Iraq. I patrolled the streets of baghdad for many many hours. being an MP in combat is extremely close to being in an infantry unit. we did walking patrols through the city, boat patrols, but mostly driving patrols. I was a gunner. I carried a machine gun (M249). i did not just sit in the truck and let the males do all the work, as someone mentioned before. ive been shot at, and hit by 3 IEDs (bombs). now if thats not considered in combat i dont know what is. dont listen to ignorant people that do not know what they are talking about.

Well it depend what Military. In Canada we have women in combat rolls as do many other nations now. Traditionally women work as Nurses and Administrators. I lived in a Theatre of War where women worked as MPs, doctors, clerks, technicians, mechanics, security, and infantry. Maybe they can't be in combat in the American military. I don't remember seeing any.

Women, can be combat. What made you think they couldn't. My sister and brother-in-law are both in the army. She is in JAG (lawyer), and he is in Military Intelligence. They are both on the way to N. Korea. My sister definately has a chance of having to go in combat. Her odds are much lower then someone not in JAG, but she could still very well be called, into active duty

Its true that women cant do any of the fun jobs in the military like demolitions, combat fighting or tank driving to name a few, because our wonderful cadre of women senators said that it is a distraction for men in the field cause men will inger over a woman who has been injured and are more protective of them so it comprimises our situation in combat. personally i think thats just dumb....hope i helped at all.

Well supposedly women (at far as the Army is concerned) are allowed into certain combat situations now. Not sure about other branches though. IE, helicopter pilots, etc...
