Try you local Clinic most of the time they are in a partnership with dentists and or have a dentist on staff and they can get you in and get that tooth out and you can make monthly payments or it may not even cost you anything. Every major area has a clinic. Call and get that thing out.

If it is an infection you need to rinse with hydrogen peroxide. Also if you want to self medicate you need to find a script for amoxacillin (if your not allergic). The problem being is that there is a reason for the infection so even if you take care of the infection it will probably come back. You may have a rotting tooth, wisdom tooth coming in, cracked tooth, etc. Those are things that you can not do on your own. You should see if there is a dental clinic in your area. Those places go based on your income. Also if you go see a dentist it may not be as expensive as you think and a lot of dentist will let you make payments.

Call different dentists' until you find one that will make payment arrangements with you. Your tooth will only get worse if you don't get it taken care of. You might even end up having to have a root canal. It could have carries (cavity) or could have a crack but take care of it the right way as soon as possible! Also, depending where you live, there are free clinics for those who do not have insurance. When you call dentists' about payment arrangements, ask about free clinics in your area as well.

I use Listerine and not only does it kill the germs, but also numbs your mouth so you don't feel the pain. If I hove a sore tooth it usually only takes a few days to start to feel better. I don't know where you heard to use rubbing alcohol, but please don't do it again. The alcohol in the Listerine is the same type of alcohol, but it is diluted. Please use Listerine or a generic version next time.

Call your local hospital and ask if your area has a free medical clinic. My area has one that is completely free if you are low income or don't have insurance. I think you should have it looked at.

For pain, you need clove oil. Go to your vitamin store. They can also give you homopathic remedies to help with your pain. You will need to go to a dentist eventually though.
