There are so few Catholics in Israel, that nobody would even know enough to be prejudiced against them!! Most Christians in Israel are neither Catholic nor Protestant, but rather belong to Eastern churches--Ethiopian, Russian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, Coptic, etc.

Only Jews are generally allowed to immigrate to Israel. Others are allowed to visit (visas are given to citizens of many countries at arrival in Israel), in some cases for long periods of time. If you have any question, call the closest Israeli embassy or consulate.

There are 4 religions in Jerusalem, Christians, Catholic Muslims and Jews. Every religion prays in the main holly place, on her turn. I don't know how other people other then Jews can emigrate, unless you lived there before the country was established or you get some kind of Visa like business visa or you marry a citizen, then you cant move there.

It isn't the best of situations. Especially if you are a Palestinian Catholic, then it really isn't fun. But it could be much much worse.

An importan thing to remember is that the State of Israel is not Israel of the scriptures. It is just a nation. So the Catholic Church does not have any special connection to this nation, while she has a special connection to the Jewish peoples, as they are our elder brothers and are related to Christ by birth not just by spiritual adoption.

What does a catholic want to go to Israel for? To bash the Jews? The RC church has never forgiven the Jews for killing Jesus, for centuries Rcs have murdered and tortured Jews and even driven them out of their lands until eventually the voted in the good RC Adolph Hitler, then he formed the RC SS and the rest is history!
The Rc church has NO claim on any part of Israel, although we know that the pope would like to get his hands on Jerusalem.
The Rcs have so many "holy" sites its is wonder you can choose only one. You have Walsingham and Lourdes you can bow down and kiss statues and pray to idols in Rome too. Leave the Jews to their homeland of Israel it has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the Rcs Rome is your homeland.

Jerusalehem might not be a very good place to move right now. There is a little bit of a war going on in Israel and some of her surrounding neighbours right now.
