They usually use needles to numb the area then they use knives or razors to cut the area they are going to do the biopsy on. Then they'll take the thing they cut from you and put it in a container with some special liquid in it to keep it steril.

Depends on what part of the body the biopsy is being performed on. I've had one before (not saying where), saw the instruments that were to be involved and I'm pretty sure it didn't involve a needle like some people here are telling you. Mine was in a specific area though.

Depends on what you need a biopsy for. if it is something on the surface only a small needle/tweeser type thing (i didn't look) if it's inside you (ex. liver biospy) then probably a needle/tweezer thing and one of those tube camera things.

Anastasia, and a scalpel then they will take the tissue that they just removed and put it under a microscope to detect what ever it is they are looking for. I have had a few. Good luck.
