The way I help my children is to count the fiber grams I give them. The rule of thumb is, add 5 to your child's age. Your daughter needs 7 grams of fiber per day. Apples have pectin, which are a no-no and bananas are a big constipator. The food with the highest amount of fiber is beans! Hopefully, your daughter likes beans - this helped with my son. Also, there are great fiber foods out there - Eggo has great whole wheat pancakes and waffles - with a little butter and syrup, she'll love them. Get rid of all wheat flour products -and only buy whole wheat products - and count the fiber grams on all foods (they're usually on the labels)

Stop peanut butter, cheese, and meats. Go to a leafy green diet of salads and assorted vegetables. Stop soft drinks and use as a reward only. Water is a necessity for the body to cleans itself. Find out what she should be drinking and make sure she gets enough. Juices are good also, but not a substitute for water.
Be careful with children that young, sometimes a canned supplement can help. Probably your best bet is a dietitian.

My daughter is now 11 and she had the same problem. The first thing is to encourage her to go as often as possible because holding it causes constipation. Next, give apple juice and put a teaspoon of mineral oil in it. It's really cheap and safe for using for occasional constipation. It has no flavor either. You can get it at your local pharmacy or supermarket. My pediatrician recommended it. Works like a charm and doesn't cause loose stools, just helps them to go easily.

Make sure you have her stay away from the ABC's. Applesauce, Bananas and cheese. Anything that starts with A, B or C basically will conspitate a child. I know from experience. My son had this problem for years. He loved pear or prunce juice. Make sure she is getting plenty of water. Also, you can buy the powered fiber. Use this while you are cooking. Add it to your mashed potatoes, spaghetti sauce...etc and that will help regulate her stools. You just add a Tablespoon or so and you can't taste it at all. It's great for the whole family.

Our two year old boy gets constipated a lot, and when he does, we cut back on his milk intake and give him plenty of apple juice or gatorade. Does the trick every time. We've thought about adding a little bit of fiber supplement to his milk, but only a tiny bit, although we haven't actually tried that yet.

Avoid bananas
Lotsa fresh fruits rather than juices (too much sugars)
Multigrain breads and never forget good ole Oatmeal porridge.
Avoid all the processed stuff like cheese slices and sugary cereals and biscuits. Thre is SO MUCH CRAP out there that is being pawned off onto unsuspecting moms..
Remember ....avoid processed, go with natural foods in there most natural state. Avoid the juices, go with the fruits.

If she is holding it in, take her to the doc. If it is an ongoing problem, take her to the doc. If it just an occasional problem, give her whole grains, like oatmeal, and even cold breakfast cereals that have high fiber and whole grains that actually taste good. give veggies and fruits and lots of liquids, not so much milk, but water. Also lots of exercise. Get up and get moving-swim, bike, run and play. Good luck!

Make sure she is taking in plenty of fruits...bananas are NOT good, unless you have the opposite problem. You can give her a juice glass filled with WHITE GRAPE JUICE, and that will help her a lot. Plums, Oranges, Peaches, Grapes....those will help her as well, as some vegetables. My boys loved small little lettuce salads at that age with their ranch dressing, and the ruffage with help her. If she continues to experience problems, I would consider talking with her pediatrician about it as well, and make sure that it is nothing worse.

Well i have been a nanny for two different families. I suggested that they ease up on the processed foods. Like avoid alot of pasta, chicken nuggets, puddings, etc. Give her ruffage -- broccli, wheat bread, cearals etc..I've seen this make a difference! Good luck

Fruit and fruit juices. Grapes are good. My pediatrician also suggested using pear juice. He told me to get the pear juice in the Mexican foods aisle of the grocery store. That juice contains more pectin than other pears juices and pectin will relieve the constipation. I tried it and it worked! Good luck!
