I'm a black female with neck length hair, I go to the hair shop about every 2 weeks, I try to keep heat off of my hair and I try to keep moisturized. I have very soft, kinda thin hair, it's not nappy at all. What else can I do to get my hair to grow?

One sure way to make your hair grow is to make sure you keep the ends trimmed about every 6-8 weeks (around the time you get a professional relaxer), and keep doing what you're doing as far as moisturizing (make sure the product is water-based) and keeping excessive amounts of heat off of your hair. Another way to get your hair to grow is to wear braids for a while - NOT micro-braids (those will take your hair out and take forever to put in and take out), but braids no smaller than the width of a pen. Braids give you and your hair a chance to rest (no combing, brushing, curling, etc.), allow your scalp to breathe (giving you great relief in the summer) and allow your hair to be moisturized right at its roots (to moisturize my hair and scalp, I use a braid spray - African Pride Extra Shine Braid Sheen Spray). Also, the upkeep is easy - all you do is moisturize it, put a scarf on and go to bed. I'm here to tell you, I've been wearing braids every summer for the past three or four years and my hair has just shot out - lol. If you do decide to try braids, make sure that whoever does it doesn't braid it too tight. Braids that are too tight will damage your hair and give you nasty bumps along your hairline, so if it hurts, let 'em know.

Hope this helps. Good luck! :)

I usually keep pink oil on my hair and ends everyday. I try to keep my pores on my scalp open. I want my hair to breathe and have oxygen. I take hair vitamins too. Ask your hair stylist to put a conditioner on hair for about twenty minutes under the blow dryer. Mine does, and when it is washed out, my hair feels silky soft. African American hair is delicate and fine. We need to take more care of it. My hair is naturally curly and I have to keep pink oil on my hair all the time. It will start getting more curly and tight. I like to keep it straight but sometimes I get lazy. Too much heat can damage your beautiful hair. I hope I was helpful. Good luck.

You should use a shampoo by Herbal Essences Clairol to full your hair. If you have split ends then you have to get rid of them or your hair will grow unhealthily. Other than that let it grow use a good shampoo and tie your hair sometimes, and keep it out sometimes. If you tie it too much it will fall out. If you leave it down too much you'll get split ends. So do a little of both to keep it healthy and grow strong!

well unfortunately I think there is no way to expedite your hair growth, just take vitamins it will grow back naturally, I know hair grows an inch a month or so,I feel the same way I got a really short hair cut!

Yeah, I don't know if there's any way to make hair grow faster. I'm thinking that it's going to have to be internal stuff like eating more healthy.
