I think missionaries should be about more than just evangalism for evangalism's sake. What good is it to only spread the gospel, if you cannot embody it? In other words, missionaries should be DOING...opening orphanages, feeding starving people, educating, etc. And if they are not, then they are essentially not doing what God intended for them to do.

That's a tough call. Missionaries do their job for so many different reasons be it love, fear, financial gain or political control.

If you ask a mother from a "primitive culture" who has watched her children die from lack of medical intervention, she will tell you exactly what she thinks of the noble savage idea if that's where you are coming from.

Anyone who wants to go out of their way to show another human being real love is a missionary in my opinion, and that I support whole-heartedly.

Teaching other people how to love by loving them would likely bring the best kind of return for the state of humanity.

I am not a Christian but I do appreciate all that missionaries do. When they go to other countries and even places in the US they tend to leave the place much better than when they arrived. Yea they do "spread the good news" while they are at it but at least they are fixing up the area and providing food for the local people. That I really respect. (personal experience from my years growing up in the church)

I only think it is good to convert those who aren't aware of Jesus and/or God if it is done respectfully. I don't want the missionaries to bring a virus (or several) and decimate the locals; I don't want the missionaries to have an arrogant "my way or the highway" or "holier than thou" mindset. As long as the missionaries are polite and kind and demonstrate a Godly lifestyle, it's a good thing.

The heathens tend to be people living in the worst contiditions in Third World Countries. I'd think they'd appriciate food and water much more than religion. It's a bit mean to try and tell these people that God is good and God loves them when they're starving.

In our small crew of decrease than 20 we help a missionary in Haiti. they are not part of our ministry yet we had the privilege of assembly them. they have an orphanage there and that is the important reason behind them being there. They obviously percentage Christ with the individuals yet many times by potential of their works of love. Giving in ordinary words one baby a house the position there must be guard, nutrients and luxurious is what I call effective. they have helped 1000's of youngsters.

No! I don't believe in converting anyone, let people have their own faiths. The plus side of converting people are:
1. Makes a church look good when they have a lot of followers
2. Tithing

I think it's more important to show them charity. When heathens start to wonder what drives this person to show charity to them, then this person can share his or her faith with them. Then the heathen can choose whether or not to find out more.
