What and ruin the great tradition of passing the fruitcake made by your great great great grandparents back to some relitive? Egads how unChristmas like can you get. Besides if all the fruitcake in the world stopped ciculating where would they hide nuclear waste?

It could also be a planetary catasrophe. Think about it, if all the fruitcakes in the world settled into one place. It would shift the orbit of the planet. So for the sake of the planet we have to keep those things moving around.

Also where would the sadistic pleasure of knowing some poor mailman had to lug that radioactive thing around be found if there were no more fruitcakes?

One day when there are enough of them the aliens will come collect all the fruitcakes and use them for the outer hull of thier ship.

Another use for fruitcakes is to prove that some things just do not rot. Not even a self respecting germ would eat a fruit cake. Someday people will research exactly why fruitcakes don't rot. I suspect nobody is willing because they'd have to collect enough in one place that they might possibly shift the orbit of the planet (See above danger of non-circulating fruitcakes)

Fruitcakes also make great target practice targets. You can shoot them dozens of times. IF the bullet penetrates the actual weight of the fruitcake remains unchanged. So you've add lead to the radioacitve waste which will furthor aid the environment by better containing the radioactivity.

Sorry couldn't resist poking fun at fruitcakes. Nope, tried to eat one once but when I couldn't cut it with a knife I decided it'd have the digestible qualities of cement and wrapped it back up to give to somebody else.

The theory about fruitcake, the same ones keep getting sent around thw world. Nobody ever eats them, they give them away the next year. That is why you never see an expiration date on a fruitcake. Really, I do not make stuff up. And to save a reply, I do not look at the stuff before I flush, unless it was painful or felt like it was out of the ordinary, outside of that, No, Hardley ever.

Not likely. Once, and only once, I had one sent to my by a client that was excellent! It was heavy, and had a bazillion calories (good thing I had the whole office to share it with), but it tasted wonderful (I think the peach brandy in it helped!). The lack of marischino cherries helped immensely. It had real fruit in it! And an awesome two layer frosting. It was good. Definitely NOT a traditional fruitcake! For all the other 'traditional' fruitcakes out there ... they make nice doorstops! My neighbor hospitalized her husband by throwing one at him (hilarious, but no joke ... she got mad and hurled that thing at his head!).

My mom used to make this really good choclate fruit cake. She would start it is September or October and it would sit in a closet in the dark and every couple of weeks she would get a syringe and inject it with rum (or whatever). THAT was good fruitcake.

Hell yeah, my mom makes great fruitcake. Moist, full of pecans and candied fruit, soaked in bourbon. Nothing like the dried out crap you can buy in a store.

Lots of people do. In general, homemade is better than most store-bought varieties. It's not for everyone, but most people who do enjoy it like it a lot.
