Hi Johnny,
The point is that Jesus died for us when we didn't deserve it. Being a Christian for me is out of gratitude and heaven is the Bonus to that.

Yes. This life can be considered an investment with the hope of getting to heaven, but equating it to the stock market isn't a fair comparison. But if you set that aside, consider that every commandment God has given (and there are far more than just 10,) is designed to give us happiness, usually by avoiding the unpleasant consequences of a poor choice or action. God didn't just give us commandments because He stands on a pedestal and wants to be a dictator. He loves us. He wants us to be happy. Same reason we parents tell our little children not to pet a hissing cat. No matter how curious and innocent the child might be, the child won't like the outcome if the cat slashes out.
It's the same for us. We're little children in many ways, compared to God.

There's no reason to ponder this.
More importantly, I would like to share with you the Truth about the afterlife. I only tell you this because I care what will happen to you when you die. Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, used God’s name in vain? These are just a few of God’s Moral Laws. When you die, God will judge you on the basis of His Moral Law. If you stand guilty before God of breaking His Laws, He will send you to Hell. If God is Just and Holy, He must punish lawbreakers. The good news is that God provided a way for you to be forgiven and go to Heaven. Jesus Christ died on a cross and rose again to pay the debt for your sins and take your punishment. What you must do is Repent, which means to say you are sorry to God and turn away from your sins. Then put your complete Trust in Jesus Christ. Only then will you be accepted into Heaven, not because you’re a good person, but because you’re a bad person who’s been forgiven. Please give this some thought. Your Eternal Destination depends on it.

I am a Christian, and I've often wondered that about many who follow our faith. Are they just doing it so they can be "forgiven" and go to heaven?

if you think back on the greek's polytheistic religion, there was no such thing is heaven. When you died, you went to Hades... in essence, you lived your life, and regardless of your behavior, you'd go to hell. The point of following a particular god was to follow the phylosophy that woshipping that diety entailed.

I for one, believe I would remain a believer, I like the phylosophy of the Christian branch i follow, although I cannot say the same for many other Christian sets of beliefs.
