Not completely true. It activates your bowl-movement. It does not erm.... 'laxavate'.

It wakes your body up. All of it.

I think coffee acts like a laxative because most of the time it is so strong. Plus I think the color and odor has a lot to do with it too.

Staying at work for 24 to 48 hours, I drank coffee by the pot and never found any laxative effect. I guess with you it stimulates your brain and bowel.

The first person explained why, in that the caffiene in the coffee speeds everything up, and ur bowel speeds up too. So it does act like a laxitive as anything that speeds up the movement of food through your intestine is a laxitive.

It's mostly due to the "hotness" or temperature. A glass of hot water or warm juice can do the same thing.

I believe it is because it contains prune juice. Dr.Pepper does the same thing.
