Assuming your from the UK, I'd say it's a knee-jerk reaction. And it's not based on anything you'd want to defend.
Try this experiment.
Listen to say, 10 or 20 pre-1955 recordings of speeches given by the queen. Take notes on pronunciation and syntax.
Now listen to some of Elizabeth's speeches of recent years. It doesn't take a linguist to note the change.
Next: ask around about what the "English" accent seams to have been, say, at around the time of Shakespeare. Would you be surprised to hear that some experts think it sounded a lot more like the Middle-Atlantic American Accent of today and not like modern UK English (Estuary)?
My point? Language is organic. Yours is a local variation, and so is the American's.

I am not one to talk, since I use an American accent when I speak English, but I have noticed that there is basically only one language which, when it's spoken by someone 50 meters away from you, you can hear that someone of that nationality is in the vicinity. Three guesses which one. All other languages can be distinguished at a distance of 5 or 10 meters *at most*.

some are worse than others. Try different accents and see if you still feel the same. Coming from England, I still think its weird when I see old people talking with an American accent

It depends which American accent you are talking about. There is more variety in American than there is in English and some English accents seriously distress me, whereas there is one particular American accent, I could listen to for ever.
'THE American accent' just doesn't exist. If you hate American accents because they are American, then it says something about your racial sensitivity and not a whit about your ear.

To which American accent are you referring? Accents vary all across the US. I hope this doesn't mean that you hate all Americans!

Because lets face facts, they aren't very bright. Therefore you know if an American stars talking to you the only thing they know enough to talk about is themselves which in the rest of the world isn't deemed a conversation.
But they are gullible which is fun! Well done.

Since my English accent and pronuntiation it is the Andalusian one...uffff...better we don't chat...In Spain there are also a lot of different accents and even in Andalusia (Andalucia) people's character and accents are quite different. I agree with people here who says that is the "person" and not the people's accent and, possibly, his/her behaviour what make you feel like that.

It's not the accent - it's the people!!! They've infected our language with their nonsense and there's no escaping it!
Have a look at the question I've just posted - it's got so many answers because so many people find it so bloody irritating - and it's spreading!!
