As a teacher who spends all day with 13 different 5 year-olds, I know that every kids is different about bathroom habits. At 5, the girls all tell me if they need to go to the bathroom. The boys, however, need reminders so that they will not have accidents. They just get so wrapped up into their activity that they don't want to interrupt what they are doing to use the bathroom.

Not always... but even when she doesn't tell me, she just goes into the bathroom by herself. But when she was potty training, she would have accidents because she was always "too busy" to stop what she was doing to go to the bathroom. Or she would wait till the very last possible second to tell me... and by then it was too late. She is 5 now and fully potty trained. Thank goodness! :-)

if your potty training around 2 or 3 (depends on the child ) if he/she is ready. my son is 2 and he goes to the bathroom by hisself and tells me he needs to go. we still have accidents from time to time. start by asking your child every 30 mins or so and about every hour take him/her to potty. pullups with the cooling feel help child to know when he/she has potty in them. most children 2-4 need a little help put after age 5 they really dont tell ya any more they just do it by themselfs. also give your child a treat for potting in pot and lots of praises. do not give child a spanking for accidents this will set your child back from using the pot. you can use time out it does work if you do it right. hope this helps :)

my daughter is 6 and the only time she tells me is when we are in public or at a friend's house. At home or my mom's house she just goes to the bathroom.

No. My guys are 8 and 9, though. I ask them if they have to go to the bathroom before we leave for somewhere and before bedtime.

Once they were potty trained, I told them they could just go and didn't need to tell me. The only time they do is if we're at the store or someplace.

my youngest is 4 and she asks me every time she has to go. I think it's cute and one day i was playing around with her and said no she couldn't. she looked at me saw the huge smile on my face and goes mommy you're joking. we both laughed and she ran off down the hall to go potty

well depends on how old they are if they are young then you tell them when they need a bath and if they are older than 9 then they should know when to take a bath
