First os all pretty much everything is better than budweiser. As for Mr. Beer the kit is not very good, if you want good results buy the brewing kits with glass carboys. My favorite site for supplies is www.midwestsupplies.com. You can defintely make great beer in your own kitchen, just get the proper equipment, be sanitary, and use liquid yeast to make great beer.
Entire start up for equipment should run less than $100, and about $25 for a beer kit.

Hi. I am not sure what mr. beer home brewing kit is but we do make our own homemade beer. We order Bru Mix from Peterborough, Ontario where it is made. The can is like thick molasses. We mix it with hot water and sugar in a pot on the stove. It is then poured into a 5 gal pail and cold water added. The cup with yeast which has been sitting in warm water for about 5 minutes goes in last. Then it is stirred and the lid put on. These pails have no "bubbler" on the too ~ it is just a solid lid. After two weeks, it is ready to bottle. We use 2 liter pop bottles. A bit of sugar is put in each bottle and then the beer is siphoned into the individual bottles. They are then shaken, and put in dark closet for a week or so. When ready to drink, I siphon one bottle into another one so the sediment stays at the bottom. The bottles are rinsed with warm water and a bit of bleach. (hose, pail and lid are also cleaned with a bit of bleach and water). It sounds like a lot of work but once u have done it a few times, it is pretty easy. With the cost of shipping, it costs us around $10 per can and we get 13 (2L) bottles out of each can. Hope this helps.

You're better off purchasing a PROPER beer brewing kit from a retailer such as Northern Brewer in Saint Paul, MN or online at http://www.northernbrewer.com
I brew my own beer and have produced GREAT results with the equipment and the extract kits that I've purchased at Northern Brewer. Give them a try BEFORE you go with the Mr. Beer kit. You will have much better results.
In addition, you will find plenty of support online and over the phone in tandem with Northern Brewer's staff and their forum, where hundreds of other home brewers can help you out along the way.

My husband tried it once - we froze for a week while it was brewing and then it tasted like crap. Buy your beer at the store!

I think it makes money for the manufacturers but it does not make good beer. To make good beer you need to go to a beer making store and join a beer making club if they have one.
