Speakers are new.No settings are muted or turned off.Was told by Dell it's a software problem, So how do I sort this out?? What do I have to do? Where do I look in Windows to check for problems and/or reset the error that has caused this? I have young chikdren and I'm not sure if they have pressed something by mistake. If i try to listen to music/video's on line- it just tells me that an error has occurred and the page cannot be displayed? Help I'm really frustrated and confused with this! Been trying to sort it for a week now!!

Onboard soundcard or a separate card?

Most likely a driver issue relating to a behind-the-scenes Windows update.

Open up settings -> control panel -> system properties -> hardware -> device manager

It will show faulty hardware in yellow.

You may need to download the Dell motherboard drivers off of their website and reinstall them if that is the problem.

I've had my speakers stop working all of a sudden, then I restart my machine and they work again. Good luck!
