Being lonely is never an excuse to bring a precious baby in to the world. You were given a gift that apparently you are not grateful for. You need to give that baby to a family who is willing and able to love it, the way it deserves to be loved. There are so many childless couples out there who dream of having what you don't want anymore. This is a human being not a puppy. Think about this next time you get lonely and go out and make friends instead of making a baby.

I'm not sure what is right for you to do, but you definately need some help and support right now. The first thing I suggest, like others did, is that you talk to your doctor or go to your local health department and see if maybe you are suffering from post pardum depression. Next, if you are feeling overwhelmed taking care of the baby right now, find somebody to help, a friend, a family member, a neighbor. Don't NOT consider adoption because of some of the things people have said here (infact keeping a child that you are resenting puts your child at a much higher risk for abuse and neglect, and I'm sure you don't want that for him/her), adoption can be beautiful, infact if you find the right parent(s), you could even maintain a role in the child's life if you wanted to while the adoptive parents provide the day to day needs and support the child deserves. Whatever you do, take action, talk to somebody that can offer you support and get you in touch with any services you may need to make a successful life for this little one you created, wether it be with you or someone else. Good luck!

Kelly,
Before you give your precious child up for adoption, think of the many many reasons you are not happy with the child right now. First look at your age, your financial responsibilities, your emotional support base.
Though your reasons for having a child were not the best, and though you "don't like the baby anymore" doesn't mean you can't have a healthy and very joyful relationship with your child. Postpartum blues can greatly contribute to the lack of joy with your child and can make you actually resent and not like the baby.
Find time for yourself. Eat healthy. Having a baby is a huge stress on your body and you need to get your health built up.
Find a support group to discuss your problems and who can help your with child care and maybe later develop into a play group.
If you can afford counselling, please go. You may even require assistance through medications to help you adjust.
If you act too hastily by giving your child up for adoption, you may become even more depressed and hurt over the loss. First find out what is the real source of your dislike. I know this from experience. Postpartum blues can be a very tragic thing.

You must be kidding! How old are you? You don't have a child because you're lonely! Children are not disposable! You can't turn them on and off like a light bulb! You should be ashamed of yourself! There are good, decent, capable, hard working women out there that can't have children and really want them! Give your child up for adoption to someone who deserves a child. But make sure you sign a paper saying you will NEVER try to take the child back for any reason! And the next time you get lonely, read a book, watch a movie, or go to a friends (not a male). Don't ever have another child! God forbid you actually raise them! They'd probably be as stupid as you and one of you is enough!!!!!!!!

Hi Kelly. I am the adoptive mother of the world's best one year old. My daughter is my greatest blessing and the joy of my life.
I'm sorry you are going through a difficult time. Loneliness can really hurt. Consider calling 1-800-adoption which is a free call 24 hours a day 7 days a week in the United States. You will be under no obligation to choose adoption for your child if you call. You can talk to someone there who will understand what you are going through and help you to make the best decision for you and you baby.
Best wishes and God Bless

If you feel that your child would have a better life with another parent or family then I would say yes, give your child up for adoption. Everyone makes mistakes and that is no reason for other people to badger you. Make sure you weigh your decision carefully though, you don't want to regret your actions later. You may want to consider seeing a therapist before and after you decision to help you. One thing to remember for the future though is that children aren't there to be your friends and keep you from being lonely, they are there for you to nurture, love, support in all ways and help them grow. Check out the link below for some adoption information.

I can not believe you!! Next time play with your dolls. If you don't want that baby then yes give it up for adoption to a family that will love that baby. I wish that I could adopted it, I would take it in a heart beat. I love babies. That is so sad. I plan on start taking in babies as soon as I can. I feel so sorry for that baby.

You should not be asking this question on the internet, you need to call your local hospital and tell them that you want to give up your baby. Most states have a law that says you can give up your child without being charged with abandonment. Don't do anything stupid, so many people would give the baby a wonderful home. Get yourself some help and counselling on self esteem

UMmmmmmm....you don't 'like' IT anymore!!? You are a sorry excuse for a woman. That is the most idiotic reason to have a baby! You are the exact piece of white trash that give all good mothers a bad name. I have 2 babies and I can not even imagine life without them. Do that precious baby a favor and find a loving family!

well this is a responsibility that you thought that you could handle, and things are not like you played them out in your mind to be like with a child things are alot different than we actually think they should be. But just because you dont like the baby isnt justifible reason to give it up. if you are a young single mother who is having trouble supporting the child or not having a place to live then you should give it up for adoption because im sure that there are People out there who are willing to take a unwanted child and love it and give it a good home. a child is not like a pet dog or cat you just cant get rid of it because you dont like it. you should have really really thought about having a child before you did. but if you think its right then do it give it up for adoption. but do you Love your child is the question?
