What about your italics?

You beat me to it. I was just about to put up the same observation. Some of the questions don't make sense, the spelling is all over the place and the grammar is diabolical. This text message lanuage is a real pain as well. Don't kids speak and write properly these days. What are they teaching in schools today!

Someone take away my soap box please!!!

Glad I am not alone though

I think you need to give people a break here. This isn't just an american site. People from other countries and languages. are here and contributing to the site. How good is your basic grammar and spelling in say, italian, or spanish or Hindi? Well? give them a break and know that this is a place you can converse with people all over the world.

I do suffer with you, but judging by just how bad it gets there will be flying pigs, blue moons and months of sundays before things get any better.

Welcome to a British education.

The conservatives don't need to drum up support on issues such as the environment, Europe and healthcare to win an election. Instead they could round up 30 random school children and parade their lexical skills around the country pledging that they will do a better job. Well it couldn't get any worse...

I agree and I'm an English major. Sometimes I can't even understand what people are trying to ask. When will people learn... some people will never learn. ugh. Schools should pay more attention to spelling and grammar.

I agree 100% on that one. We are raising a bunch of illiterates in our society. My own youngest daughter is 18, and although some of it is done purposely, for shock value I guess (like skool), her spelling and grammar for the most part is ridiculous to say the least.

How these people manage to be successful in life is beyond me.

And yes, it is frustrating to have to translate everything into normal english.

These people need to go back to school (or skool as they like to say) and learn the basics.

Sorry-- had a venting moment there. I'm done now.

Thanks....

Do you mean like capital letters at the start of a sentence and full stops at the end? That's grammar too, so practice what you preach.
PS. English has a capital E - tsk tsk, grammar!

It will only happen when it is taught correctly in schools. It is a major disadvantage for kids wanting to learn a different language, as most other languages are very well structured; unlike English.

The problem is that the youngsters abbreviate all their words in text messages on a moblie phone & MSN, so they use it everywhere else. It's a lazy way of communicating. By the way, do they have spelling tests in school anymore....doesn't look like it does it!

It's the internet...people don't really care sometimes because Yahoo Answers is sort of like "chatting" on IM programs. But then again, it's really sad because people get so used to IM'ing, that when they have real papers for either school or university, they use chat slang - it's quite funny to read actually.
Hey, you didn't capitalize...tsk tsk tsk...hehe kidding! =)

It might help if those of us who can spell point out the errors in the Q's & A's on this site. On second thoughts, though, that would take up far too much time!
