I have been getting a number of loan offers at 7.99% lately, do you think it is a good idea to take one of these to consolidate my credit card bills?

well to start off you should get rid of your credit cards, there no reason why you should be handing over your money to a credit card company, start paying with cash!

No. Continue paying and accumulating debt on your department store credit cards. It's not worth the hassle to bother the credit card company because they are so busy. You should just leave them alone. You should go out and get a home equity line, and maybe even refinance your mortgage. That would be cool. Then you would be rich. Rich like me as I have all the free time in the world to never give the right answer to any question. Why are you even reading this? Are you that bored and stupid?

You've asked a very important question. A correct answer will be even more important to you. So important in fact that you'd be doing yourself a lasting, economic favor to consult locally with a skilled credit counselor. This isn't the time to make a cursory check for internet feedback and then make committed decisions based on unequal, varying responses.

yes, especially if that loan offers 0% balance transfer fees for a given amount of time (usually 6-months).

even more of a bonus if the loan offer's APR is LESS THAN what you're currently paying.

30 year fixed rates are at 6.75% with a 1% loan fee and 7.25% with no fee for those with good credit today. 7.99% seems high to me unless you have credit issues.

That's all the info you have? What will the rate be next week? Do you know? Or next year?
