Louise Rennison has a great series featuring Georgia Nicolson. It starts with Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging. (There are 7 books so far...)
Sonya Sones writes some great books. I love What Your Mother Doesn't Know. (I love them all, that's just my favorite so far.)
Sarah Dessen is a great author. I'd recommend anything by her. My personal favorite is The Truth About Forever.
Laurie Halse Anderson is great. Speak is one of the best YA books ever.
Stephenie Meyer wrote Twilight...one of my all time favorite books...and the sequel New Moon is going to be released this fall. So now might be the time to start a new series!
Uglies, Pretties, and Specials by Scott Westerfeld (aka Uglies trilogy) they are great books.

"True Believer" by Nicholas Sparks. He's like the best author EVER (in my opinion)...He wrote "The Notebook" and "A Walk to Remember" (as in the movies). After you read that one you'll have to read "At First Sight" It's the sequel to True Believer. If you like Romance/Drama Novels. You'll love this one. He alaways makes a person fall in love with the characters.

The Big Stone Gap trilogy by Adrianna Trigiani. Read it quick as there is a movie being made and I can't imagine they will do it justice.
