Everyone who is telling you about estrogen is completely correct. The reason this can affect the cancer is that many cancers are "estrogen receptor positive". This means that they type of cancer they have feeds and grows off of the estrogen.
This is why they tell cancer patients and survivors to try to briskly walk 5 hours a weeks. This is because the physical activity hinders the growth of estrogen in the body.
They put me on Femara for 5 years after my cancer. This is because it is an estrogen blocker. It is the newest and most effective medicine out there.
If estrogen is a problem with your cancer, then you should also stay away from marijuana because it produces estrogen in your body. You might notice that men who smoke marijuana chronically for years, find their voices get higher, they have less facial hair, they develop "man boobs" and there is an increase in female tendencies or feminin tendencies over all.

The reasons for this differ depending on the type of cancer, and it's not fully understood why in many cases. However, one strong theory is that excess fat can throw off sex hormone balances (like, estrogen), as well as affect the amount of insulin and other chemicals in your body. These changes (particularly the sex hormone imbalances) have been linked in particular to higher incidence of breast, endometrial, and colon cancer in obese people. But obesity puts you at risk for MANY forms of cancer, not just those three. As of right now, science isn't completely sure why, but more studies are being done.

CANCER
What is it?
Cancer occurs when cells in one part of the body, such as the colon, grow abnormally or out of control and possibly spread to other parts of the body, such as the liver. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the U.S.
How is it linked to overweight?
Being overweight may increase the risk of developing several types of cancer, including cancers of the colon, esophagus, and kidney. Overweight is also linked with uterine and postmenopausal breast cancer in women. Gaining weight during adult life increases the risk for several of these cancers. Being overweight also may increase the risk of dying from some cancers. It is not known exactly how being overweight increases cancer risk. It may be that fat cells make hormones that affect cell growth and lead to cancer. Also, eating or physical activity habits that may lead to being overweight may also contribute to cancer risk.
What can weight loss do?
Avoiding weight gain may prevent a rise in cancer risk. Weight loss, and healthy eating and physical activity habits, may lower cancer risk.

Yep true story. Fat stores the hormone estrogen in the body. Estrogen stored in fat causes increase in the risk for cancer.

Too much fat tissue changes production and distribution of steroid hormones in your body, and that can put you at greater risk.
It concerns both men and women.

Logic tells me that if you are fat, then there is more of you, if there is more of you, then there is more of you that can catch cancer.
So I suppose logic would suggest there is a greater risk.

I've read that some scientists believe that estrogen is stored in fat. So.. more fat = more estrogen. Estrogen is considered a carcinogen.
