Bad idea - making alcohol illegal didn't work the first time, and led to all sorts of crime and mob violence. Make 'em both legal and let people be responsible for themselves.

They tried illegalizing alcohol many years ago. It was called prohibition. It was BAD. The economy took a major hit and law enforcement was working on keeping alcohol out so much they were ignoring other things (the original gangsters).

Legalizing marajuana. Thats another issue. It is legal in many countries around the world, but its not like what WE have now. The marajuana you buy from the guy on the street corner could (and probably is) be laced with other "items" to make the high much more... deadly. Legalizing it would have to be like alcohol is legal today: individuals cannot produce for sale, they have to go through the FDA and become a company and all that. Laws restricting who can buy and what you can do while under the influence would also have to be put in place.

So, legalizing marijuana wouldn't hurt anyone but the drug dealers, but illegalizing alcohol would deal a blow to the economy. Imagine the thousands of people employeed by the alcohol industry (those in breweries, truck drivers delivering it, the Busch series racing with NASCAR, bar tenders, the waitresses there, et cetera) losing their jobs and having to find new ones. Definately a bad idea.

they should legalize marijuana with the same stipulations as alcohol or cigarettes.

You have to be 18 or 21 to get it

no driving while under the influence of marijuana

and so on

Marijuana is more of an upper and alcohol is more of a downer. It is much better than alcohol. Alcohol makes me depressed, sick to my stomach, and so forth. It makes some people aggressive and abusive. I think it's wiser to have marijuana legal than alcohol.
I've never seen an angry stoner. Stoners are usually happy.
Some people use it for pain relief as well. I have many times

They tried illegalizing alcohol many years in the past. It replaced into called prohibition. It replaced into undesirable. The economic equipment took a substantial hit and regulation enforcement replaced into engaged on holding alcohol out a lot they were ignoring different issues (the unique gangsters). Legalizing marajuana. Thats yet another difficulty. it really is criminal in a lot of countries international huge, yet its compared to what we've. The marajuana you purchase from the guy on the line nook ought to (and doubtless is) be laced with different "products" to make the extreme a lot extra... deadly. Legalizing it ought to should be like alcohol is criminal at present: persons won't be able to produce on the marketplace, they ought to go by ability of the FDA and grow to be a organization and all that. guidelines proscribing who can purchase and what you should do even as less than the impact ought to also should be put in position. So, legalizing marijuana would not damage anybody notwithstanding the drug sellers, yet illegalizing alcohol ought to deal a blow to the economic equipment. imagine the 1000's of people employeed with the help of the alcohol marketplace (those in breweries, truck drivers handing over it, the Busch series racing with NASCAR, bar tenders, the waitresses there, et cetera) dropping their jobs and having to locate new ones. Definately a nasty theory.

Unfortunately, I am a brutal alcoholic. but I do agree that alcohol should be illegal and ganja should be legal. People rarely get into physical altercations when high on THC products, and they do not usually think about hitting the crack pipe or the rig after smoking a joint. I cant recall ever wanting to rob a house after smoking a bowl of hash. I can't say the same for alcohol... which has been the start to the road of fuin for the majority of those around me.

The Government already tried criminalizing alcohol and all it did was create more problems. Marijuana should be legal. The Supreme Court said so in the 1970's and the voters did under Emperor Clinton, but the Government did what they wanted to anyways.

They'll never criminalize alcohol. There's a far better chance of marijuana being legalized. What I think should happen is tobacco should be outlawed - it's far more harmful than any other substance being considered for legalization/illegalization.

I think it won't make a bit of difference. Then more people will go to jail for alcohol possession then marijuana. Then, people will still drive under the influence of marijuana. So no difference at all. I say legalize everything, and watch ourselves self combust.

It is a great idea! I was just reading a study the other day that has proved that alcohol has a more damaging affect on your body than weed. They have also proven that yes weed does affect your short term memory but it DOES NOT kill brain cells, as alcohol does. Alcohol has more of an impairment affect on people than weed does. Don't get me wrong I like to get my drink on from time to time but would much rather smoke one and get my buzz from the weed.

Alcohol and marijuana accomplish the same thing but one is deceptively more insidious than the other. Up to you.
