3 pounds mixed apples, i.e. Cortland; McIntosh; Golden Delicious; Gala; etc., cored and quartered
1/2 cup water
3/4 to 1 cup sugar, to taste
Juice of half a lemon
2 teaspoons cinnamon, optional

In a large saucepan combine the apples, 1/2 cup water and sugar, bring the liquid to a boil, and simmer the mixture, stirring occasionally and breaking up the apples, for 20 minutes. When the apples are tender and the mixture is the consistency of a chunky puree pass the apples through a food mill and return to the saucepan. Simmer the applesauce, gently, for an additional 5 to 10 minutes or until slightly thickened. Adjust seasoning with lemon juice, sugar and cinnamon. Serve the applesauce warm or chilled.

Peel the apples. Cut them up. I like chunky applesauce to I cut them into BIG chunks. Then put them in a heavy pan and put it on medium heat. Add sugar to taste. Simmer until it becomes applesauce! It's very easy. You can add cinnamon when done too.

2 tbsp. plus 2 tsp. sugar

No recipe, just directions. Boil peeled apples gently with little or no water, because the juice of the apples will cook into the bottom of the pan, or steam them until soft. Mash with a potato masher for chunky (my favorite), food processor briefly for canned consistency, blender for baby food(for this you can leave peels on). Add brown sugar to taste and cinnamon if desired.
Enjoy.

i agree with the first answer. you can add regular sugar, or brown sugar, maybe add cinnamon if you want. of course if the apples are very sweet, no sugar needed. taste the apples after you blend them in the blender, and add what you want.
