I always could tell by her tummy getting bigger and her nipples showing changes. I would also take her to your vet and confirm it. She may need extra care or nutritional supplements. Not all dogs carry babies the same. Here's some sites to help you know all about pregnant dogs:

You can do an ultrasound on a dog after about day 30-35...you can also do a relaxin blood test that's available through your vet.

When..............
1-its a girl over 6 months old
2-not spayed/neutered
3-recently had a heat cycle
4-was 'tied' with an intact male
5-nipples are longer
6-belly starts to show
7-have your vet palpate her abdomen and/or do an x-ray

You can tell that she is pregnant by her actions. Also she looks a little fatter

when her nipples& her private parts protrude out further than the norm.
