Say hello first of all! Then ask him how he is? Ask questions about his life and in return tell him about you. It will work wonderfully, if you just relax and be happy you are seeing him.
How wonderful for you!!

Its been 9 yrs and he 'Might' call, this man has auotmatically given up any respect and trust that you 'Might' have for him, dont want to sound like im having a go at your dad but you shouldnt worry to much about what to say to him, it will come naturally. Would you ever not talk to your child for that long for any reason?
Sorry about my answer, looks pretty angry when i read it back. Some great advise i got once was to look in a mirror when your on the phone, if your smiling when you talk you will sound great. good luck

Be polite and don't get emotional. Ask him how he is doing and what he is up to these days and try to have a regular conversation. Do not bring up any issues that caused you to stop talking with your dad or he talking with you. Ask him if he would like to meet you for lunch or dinner.
I went through that with my dad for 5 years.

Start with HI and let the rest go from there. It's gonna feel uncomfterable no matter what. Just say what you feel needs to be said. The rest will come to you. Good luck!

"hey, what have u been up to? having fun with out me?"
thats a good starter. but try to be nice while conveying your true feelings. i went trough it, and i still can barely talk to him.
