Is it a game of chicken? Stupidity? I nearly hit a guy last night who was walking with traffic, on the road, inside the white line. Scared me to death.I wanted to go back and refresh his kindergarten training, but I thought I would be thugged and mugged.

I've wondered that myself. I nearly hit someone last night walking down a fairly busy, but narrow road(poorly lit too) wearing all black. If it wasn't for the fact that the idiot had on white sneakers I probably wouldn't have seen him at all, at least until impact! I've debated if it's their stupidity that makes them do it, or if they are just trying to give me a heart attack.... the bastards.

hahaha. The Huffington Post, now there's a credible source. Regardless: The article states 19 pedestrian deaths from Jan-May... of last year. Hardly current; Regardless: Do the math, that is less than 4 per month; one pedestrian death - each week. One fatality each week, in a city of millions. Wow. Such utter carnage. Undoubtedly none were wearing black on a rainy night, crossing against the light, jaywalking between vehicles... eg 'preventable' "I wanted to visit Vancouver as a visitor but this is putting me off." Do me a favor, go to some other big city. I'm watching news coverage of yet another mass shooting public rampage from another country... if big city traffic and an inability to deal with it is your biggest issue we're all better off if you don't even bother :)

I suspect this is a 'rant' and not actually a petition for us to all speculate on the thought processes of unsafe pedestrians.

Because they are stupid.
I realized that many people who do not drive, don't realize the obstacles drivers have to deal with. Glaring headlights, dim street lights, no street lights, rain, oh don't forget that bright morning/evening Sun. and then here they come walking in the street like Mr. damn invincible wearing all dark colors. Grrrrr it gets me soo upset.

I have pondered this myself. Same goes for bike riders without a light. Or motorcyclists without a helmet performing wheelies down an exit ramp (I have SEEN this).
It could be nature's way of weeding out the defective genes.

So they can get their dumb asses can get ran over and cause you to be charged with hitting them and cause all kinds of hell for you. If you are walking in the road in dark clothes at night you deserve to be hit!!!!!

I'd have to agree, I drive at night and these people decide to walk in the dark. I'm doing my job and suddenly they're right there and they have the nerve to yell at me. I drive with brights and blinkers and I'm wrong. Don't get it either.

I love the people who jog in the road, breathing in all the carbon dioxide while they risk getting hit by a car. They are nuts!
