I already know about craig's list, I'm just looking for another source. I'm against using a broker because they charge between 12 and 20% of the annual rent, or atleast 1 months rent, Iand I don't see the point in paying these guys what amounts to about 500 dollars an hour to look through their listings to find an apartment for me.

You can try craigslist.com

But most places go through a broker. Broker have more connections. Lot of the non-broker places are complete junk or in weird neighborhoods. Of course there are times you luck out as well!

As well, places that don't require brokers are folks looking for roommates. So if you don't mind living with someone, that is another option. Some brokers will negotiate down their fee as well. It's all a tricky buisness. I was able to get my broker fee completely waved but that was due to the fact my apartment was rented for two months and the landlord wanted it to be rented so he paid the broker fee because I didn't want to. So sometimes you will luck out.

broking service expenses frequently run one to 2 months lease. What you get is a catalogue of apartments that are theoretically available, and meet your length, area and value criteria. in my opinion, I genuinely have used a broking service in common words once in my life, and characteristic lived in six diverse apartments, and did not genuinely flow into some thing the broking service said the only time I used a broking service. The broking service gained't take a lot interest on your credit status, notwithstanding the owner who will lease to you'll extra in all probability than not do a credit verify besides as make certain employment. Many will ask to work out a pay stub or very last year's earnings tax filing. in case you don't know NYC or have acquaintances the following that ought to help you, a broking service may also help. I repeat, ought to.

There really is only one place to go where you can get true no broker fee apartments that are updated, RDNY.com. I know this because as a broker, I know that they supply the brokerage industry with listings - that we charge a fee on. So give them a try. You can do a free search of their listings.

there are three websites (one of them you have to paid)

nofeerent.com, rentbyowner.com and subleasecom. I am not sure it's exact spelling, but if you google it, it will come out. By the way regular charge is 12-15% and it's totaly negotiable. Otherwise you will be getting crap.
