First I would like to say Sean P is an idiot. To answer your question it really depends on the sin you are repenting for. For the more serious sins (sexual sins most commonly) it is usually about a year but your Bishop and Stake president will have final say. I hop that helped.

I would check with your Bishop. He will be able to give you the most accurate answer as much of that depends on your attitude. It also depends on what the nature of the sin was. There are several that in fathers day would not totally disqualify you for a mission, but today some will cause you not to go even after repentance. For that also you will need to speak with your Bishop or Stake Pres.

You'd have to ask your Bishop or Stake President. It's not like brownies....15 mins. in the oven and they're done.
