Actually, it is true. There is a very small group of crackpots who have organized and periodically have events to garner public attention. They have absolutely no chance of success and no one takes them seriously, except possibly those agencies that keep an eye on dissident groups.

Yes. They succeeded in 1836 but by 1845 they were admitted to the United States. I have heard of no such recent movement. Occassionally, they talk about splitting into 5 states so they can get more senators but that's about it.

Yes, there is a movement. It is a small fringe movement which has no chance of succeeding. there is even a movement to have Hawaii to secede as well.
