Yes! I've been on it! And it is a very picturesque run indeed via Chicester and Shoreham. I just can't believe the wankers that are scoring this question foir points and actually teling you nothing. The line out of SOTON central goes by Lower Swanwick. It runs along and crosses over inlets of the sea. Take it and enjoy. I think and maybe soeone can verify that coming into Brighton station you pass over this really high viaduct over the town and the A27?

The trains from the South West go North to London from Southampton so I would have thought there would be direct trains from S'oton to Brighton. Try www.thetrainline.co.uk

There are only 2 direct services from Southampton Central to Brighton on weekdays.

14.37 depart Southampton - 16.12 arrive Brighton
21.20 depart Southampton - 23.20 arrive Brighton

Apart from these trains depart Southampton at 20 past every hour and change at Hove

No not exactly. I travel that route bout once a fortnight. The trains out of Southampton central go all the way to Hove where you can transfer. Hove's bout 3 minutes away from Brighton via train, I don't even bother to sit down. Have a good one.
