I had a VS credit card 8 years ago and had a $90 charge i never paid. It fell off my credit report last year and i havent heard anything since. Is it ok to apply for a new card or does the company keep a record of my SS # and history that far back? Will i get denied?

Ok.. so i called the # and they asked for my social security #. The customer service rep started to stammer and said that 8 years ago THEY closed my account and told me to hold. the next thing i hear is "Welcome to ABC Financial" haha! she was trying to send me to collections! I dont think so! no way jose. I'll just apply for a Macy's card and forget about them!

Theymay have erased any records of files after that long a period of time. But if they haven't, you are taking the chance that you may "reactivate" your latent debt. You could be sneaky and call their credit department and ask giving them a fake name. If they have erased older files, nothing to worry about, if not, it may be reactivated and again reported to your credit report.

You will probably get denied.. if you never paid it before, then I wouldn't extend credit to you again. They probably won't either.
