Owning tasers (and stun guns, there is a difference) is like most things, state dependent. In most states they aren't considered a weapon so you don't have to have a permit for them. You could most certainly use them for home protection as long as your state or local ordinance doesn't prohibit you from possessing them. When in doubt, ask a local police officer. A phone call might be answered by someone not certified to advise the legality of it.

Yes you can have a taser for your own protection and home protection. Depending which state you are in, the legality of the voltage depends on the law of the state. Since taser only shock some one with electricity, you don't need a concealed weapon permit for it. However, depending on which state you are in they can make you to have a permit to carry it.

240 people have died from tasers this year, from police, not sureif that is just la county or the us, they are a deadly weapon, maybe if you have an ffl license you can keep onein your home,and you should be able to purchase one, with an ffl license
