Please I need your help...What to do at a wake/service of a young boy that was murdered. I'm very upset over the whole thing, but I dont know what the proper thing to do at these things ...I already visited the family briefly to give my condolences. I hate that I probably cant get anyone to go with me because its going to be uncomfortable

Just your presence will be enough, you will just speak from the heart.I am sorry and extend my condolances at your loss by someones senseless actions.You will comfort and support each other by sharing memories and your grief.If your minister or religious leader is present he could lead you all in aprayer for strength and courage to see you through the difficult days ahead.My prayers to you and the family.

i'm so sorry bout the tragic news. i think u should go by ur self u don't need anyone to go with u. just be there and stay through the whole thing and try to help the family in any way u can

The family will appreciate your support by being there. A simple "I'm sorry for your loss" is fine. If they want to talk, talk with them. If they just want you to sit quietly with them, do it. Let them lead you. Sometimes it is good to share a nice memory with them that you have, something they don't know about the person who died. Either way, just go and be yourself, but let them guide you in which way they want to be comforted.
