You I think of the TERM Smart, ( Being smart) I think of this word as to how much Knowledge one has the ability to know enough of certain things,Information to Be Smart.You say that you are reading the bible, If you were to look up the scripture Proverbs 1:7, this scripture will give anyone insight as to the term knowledge and what it means to have it, Many people who Go to Collage, Learn a Trade Go too Church all do these things because they either want to be Smart enough to Land that good job to be able to make to money one needs to get/stay ahead, Same as Church Pastors,Elders, Ministers, Deacons of Churches ARE in those positions because they feel they have the knowledge which would make one SMART to teach the bible to people they feel want to be save. NO matter what Race, Creed,ect.. Rather you are Straight or Gay the Knowledge you Possess MAKES THAT PERSON SMART, Some of us have a Higher I-Q than others BUT GET THIS, No matter what's your back ground rather you are RICH or Poor We are all the same in Gods Eyes. JUST MY THOUGHTS and thanks for allowing me to state my answer.

Well, you are somewhat correct in your assumptions, but the difficulty comes with the word "smart". Smart is a very hard word to pin down in real life. I might be considered smart because I can retain a great deal of information. However, that does not always mean I use that information well. On the other hand, there are people who may not have a good mind for remembering facts, but are brilliant problem solvers.
Now, there are various studies that seek to prove your points, though I can't cite them at the moment. These studies might be seen as the answer to the studies in the past that sought to prove, for example, that whites were inherently or genetically more intelligent than blacks, Asians, Hispanics, etc. Those particular studies may not have been as scientifically unbiased as people thought...
Overall, I would agree that, given similar opportunities and education, no one group is smarter than the others. Also, another important thing to remember in this discussion is when spokespeople for a group tend to sound ignorant, the group is thought to be ignorant as well.

The point of reading the Bible is not to become as knowledgeable as anyone else. It is a personal experience. You will get out of it what God gives to you. If you are an atheist then all your gonna get out of it is the basic history of it, and the stories, there is more in the Bible than the words if you read it spiritually. It is sad to know that there are so many atheists in the world today. I am praying for all of you. I am not smarter than anyone in the world. The Bible tells us that no man is good, no not one. So we are all treated equally by God, and should treat each other the same way. It is not about smarts in the Bible, but about a relationship with God.

I would first like to say that I have a lot of respect for you being an atheist and reading the Bible. A lot of my Christian brothers and sisters will not pick up a secular book and read it, and consequently cannot relate to the culture we are trying to reach out to!
Anyone can be just as wise as anyone else. Just read with wisdom and consider all of the facts. I don't know exactly what you mean by "as smart on the Bible," but anyone who seeks the truth can have wisdom, as Jesus taught us to have unbiased wisdom as well.

Generalizations like that are always false.
Belief in the Bible is a personal opinion, having nothing to do with intelligence. After all.... evolution is a THEORY and the probability of it actually occuring the way that scientists say are like one in a few billion, yet it's considered the current scientific standard because science does not make room for the influence of God.

Oh my god! Haven't I proven by my answers that I am just not smart enough!
Okay let's see. I went to college and was a drama major, smart yet stupid (I am virtually unemployable) I am young but not without experience (does that make me wiser?) being involved in Dramatic Arts I met ALOT of homosexuals who were alot smarter that me (and had better fashion sense) and my son goes to an International school so I am surrounded by other cultures and countries (and let me just tell you that, yes Jim the majority are smarter then me refer to Drama degree as opposed to engineering) so what does that say?
Here is the clincher...
Wait for it....
It's not intelligence that this is about, it is the degree of your acceptance and your willingness to adapt and change.
Evolution, baby!

Sorry but just reading about something doesn't make you smart.
Proverbs 16:21-23 (The Message)
21 A wise person gets known for insight;
gracious words add to one's reputation.
22 True intelligence is a spring of fresh water,
while fools sweat it out the hard way.
23 They make a lot of sense, these wise folks;
whenever they speak, their reputation increases.

yes, I agree mostly, even though I think theists have to be a little dim-witted in order to be classified as theists. But, many smart people are fooled by traditions they grew up with, and never questioned out of fear of hell and loss of precious heaven. I question and have kept coming to the same conclusion. God isn't real............me=atheist
