If I gave two recipes to ten people, you would get 10 different dishes. No people cook the same. You ate your Mom's cooking for twenty years and associate good cooking with what you grew up with so naturaly noone can make it like MOM

Because mom doesn't use a bunch of low-carb, fat-free, sugar-free, chemical laden garbage like many people these days use. Mom is awesome...she was raised in an era where people cooked because they love food and know the importance of eating a healthy, well-balanced diet...not because they're dieting or trying to cut back on this or that or lose a dress size and look like Nicole Richie.

If I may elaborate on what Sew said, cooking is as much an art as a skill. So everyone cooks differently. Different cooks use different spices and seasonings and the measures are never exactly the same.

If in doubt, top up with salt or sugar @'.'@
Nobody ever seems to notice.

One because she's a girl (and girls are better at everything) and two because you grew up with her food and she would have cooked you favorite meals when you were a kid!
