when you defrag you system
look at the screen
shows you:- file system,capacity,freespace and percentage of free space
and you can defrag while you're looking

Very Simple. Open My Computer and Right Click on the Hard Drive you want to check the space on. Click properties after you right click. There should be a pie chart telling you how much free space there is and how much you used up.

I assume you mean HD space. If that's the case, go to My Computer and right click on your C drive (usually that's where everything is stored) and hit properties. You should get a pie chart showing Used and Free space. Free is what's left.

If you want to know about one drive right click on the drive icon and click properties and if you want to look for all of the disk(s) go to start->programs (or all programs) -> accessories-> system tools-> disk defragmenter-> and look for the disk space next to your disk icon
