my hair's the curliest thing once i get out of the shower. but the ends are totally dry/completely straight. are they dead? or just weird?

All your hair is dead. The thing about your hair is that the ends tend to get split and dry out. Go to the hairdresser on a regular basis, and use conditioner before steppin out of the bath. That will help

That is unusual I admit. I'm stumped. Rather than tell you that some hai isn't meant to be long, I think that you should go see a good hair dresser and get a professional opinion/suggestions.

Your whole hair is dead tissue, that is why it doesn't hurt to cut it. Those ends may be dry, damaged or burned.

Just cut off an inch from the bottom.It should be ok.
