Sony DSCS40, should I take it in to get it fixed or can someone tell me how to fix it ?

Sony DSC-S40 displays a blank screen and informs to turn off and on the power when trying to take pics/rec. The shudder d/n open. I am able to access the memory card.

I had the same problem. The DSCS40 is suppose to have long lasting batteries but they were the problem everytime this happened to me. Either replace the batteries or if you have the model with rechargeable batteries, then make sure they are fully charged. Another thing to check is if you have the AC cord, try to use it and if the problem doesn't repeat, then you know it's the batteries.
