My colleague and I both have a fairly similar diet, yet his gas is very frequent, consistently silent and very foul-smelling. Mine are usually audible, yet they smell little if at all.

I have support from outsiders on my claims of less smell, so it's not just my nose.

What factors could influence flatulence other than diet?

How much air you swallow when you eat.

Everything else is related to what you ingest. Certain foods produce more flatulence than others because they contain more indigestible carbohydrates than others.
