to all you ppl pissed at me for asking lets remember that fat children grow up to be fat adults and lazy fat parents are only harming there children by letting them be lazy, get no exercise and comfort themselfs with food. Call me what you want-my parents made me and my bros. get off our fat asses and play outside- it's ppl that close thier eyes to the problem who hurt the kids. Remember that next time you sit next to a fat person in a theather or sporting event-chances are they have been raised by fat parents. And if you say your don't make comments about their fat butts under your breathe--your lying through your teeth!!! I may be cruel, but my kid will never be fat, lazy and have no self confidence.

That is quite disturbing, isn't? I would say a large part of the obesity epidemic we have today. I feel the same way when I watch a chubby kid's mom buy him/her a double cheeseburger and large fries with a milk shake at McDonald's.

I know people say it is a "disease", and maybe that is true psychologically speaking, Most people (I'd dare say 99%) that are overweight have a learned problem. They learn to eat when they are depressed, when they are happy, etc. and it usually comes from the parents. Only a small portion of obesity can be contributed to an actual physical ailment.

The bottom line... Less calories in, less fat. It sounds simple, but can be very difficult, however... It can be done and you can change bad habits. Buffets are OK if you can use them in moderation.

One last comment... It does hurt me and every other working American when this happens because weight related health problems have been constantly increasing. This means higher health care insurance and more government money going to research and "cures".

Seeing severely obese people makes me feel sorry for them some people can't help it and others can. I was one of those people who can, I grained a lot of weight with my daughter, but I was determined not to be fat, being fat mad me hate myself and others around me, it made me jealous and ruined a year of my life, But I wanted to change, so I did....I lost 119 lbs in 9 months, and no that wasn't the crack diet or the finger down the throat one either, I accomplished my goals through consistent diet and exercise - today when I see obese people I think of myself and how I felt, Look girl don't pick on those less fortunate they may have a disorder of some sort, it's not your life so don't worry about it, and the kids can't help it, it's the parents that are in control of what they eat. But if your an attractive, skinny person don't worry about what others look like and eat, maybe one day you could be in there position and people like yourself will be in the crowd pointing you out. We all die one day, let people be themselves, it doesn't matter in the end. The nicest people (smile all the time, happy, never met a stranger, People) I have ever met were the the heavy set people, my mom is one of those. She works hard everyday and constantley worries about her weight (jogs a treadmill everyday) and can't lose a pound. Those other people maybe the same way. Honey, don't judge that person by what you see on the outside, it's whats inside that really makes use all different in our very own special little way.

Do you have a medical condition that some would question? I seen many people big and small at buffet tables-- some of the bigger people ate like little people ---they hardly put anything on thier plates while skinny people loaded thier plates two or more times-- It is not how fat a person is that makes it so grotust for you, it is the fact that society is producing more and more obese children and you want someone else to blame.

Does it make you feel better to talk bad about people. Instead of being so mean why don't you try to help. Get into some profession that will allow you to do some good. You must have some issues with yourself if you always have to judge people. This is what you call "Judging a book by it's cover". If everone was the same size in this world (like maybe your size) you would still be bitching because there won't be any cute clothes for you to wear.

While I don't have children, I am overweight. I put on 100 lbs after having brain surgery to remove an abcess, and no about of dieting and/or exercize affects my weight (we tried one month on a very strict caloric intake and exercize regiem, which I didn't cheat on, and I still gained size, although not pounds) so I've decided to just enjoy myself since my metabolism won't allow me to lose weight.

You might want to think about the REASON some people are fat before you critisize them. Given a choice between my current size, or filling a hole in the ground, I'll take the weight any day.

Your a pretty odd person to be sitting in the shadows lurking around checking out others while they eat. Maybe you have some hidden eating disorder that you haven't came to terms with yet? ya know being a racist person doesn't just mean you hate African Americans, Jewish or KKK people or whatever. It means you are categorizing people and finding something that's very minuscule wrong with them. Why don't you stick to important events, like go and donate blood for the red cross or volunteer at your local elderly care center. Stop being so judgmental. Find a way to get into the community and help stop obesity, don't just complain about it.

No it doesn't make me want to slap them. They can be at a buffet and eat in moderation. I mean, fat people do need food to survive too, so who's to say they're over eating at a buffet line? I do however want to slap the people that are bringing about lawsuits towards mcdonalds for making them overweight. That right there is slap worthy.

I wouldn't slap them, it is their business if they want to eat there or not. I was complaining about my father because he is CONSTANTLY going on diets only to lose a few pounds and go off the diet and then gain what he lost and then some extra to boot. Like I said, he has to eat at buffets and every meal has to be eaten out. He won't eat at the house and he won't PORTION his meals. He only seems to want ALL YOU CAN EAT. He doesn't exercise and he just sits in front of the TV and eats. Thats his life, he is lazy. He lives to eat, not eats to live. I don't want to offend all heavy people but my father is an exception. I love him and want him around for a few more years if possible but he just doesn't have the will power to want to do anything about his weight. Everytime I start to put on any poundage, I get myself out walking or jogging and eat less. I can stand the hunger pains that he can't seem to.

It is too bad society frowns on others. Roughly 1/3 of North Americans are categorized as obese. They can help their cause by realizing their lifestyles (if not a medical condition) are not healthy.

Even worse they are passing these poor examples on to their kids who suffer worse, as their bodies are still growing and studies show obesity in youth can lead to complications later such as Diabetes etc.

Also they will in the long run tax the medical system more as do smokers, drug users and alcoholics.

Media and the food industry should do more to educate these as studies show less educated alos higher risk for obesity.

You can only lead a horse to water though...
