It usually means that you are feeling less secure, less in control of your relationship and your emotions. It is your problem, not his, so don't start to accuse him on the basis of a dream that you had. If you have reason to believe he is cheating, real evidence, then it isn't a dream. It's a nightmare.

ur either really insecure, he is having an affair or he's thinking about it...if i were dreaming my boyfriend was having an affair and it was very out of the blue then i would start paying more attention to his actions

It may mean that you are afaid that he would do that to you, which means that you subconsciencely don't trust him. One thing that it doesn't mean is that he isn't actually cheating on you unless you yourself have seen signs of cheating.
