Keep the bird warm and in quiet dark box until you can get it to an avian vet. Here is a list on vets on Cape Cod. Perhaps the vet can give you the name of a wildlife rescue on the island as well.

Good luck!

Keep it in a safe place, with water. Then you should probably leave it alone.
Once a chickadee hit a window at my house. I thought it was dead for a while, it look like it had broken some bones, and its head and wings were in a weird position. Then it started moving a little. A few hours later it flew away. Maybe this could happen with your goldfinch. I hope so! Good luck!!

what a coincidence. i just found a pigeon with a broken wing. no 24-hour animal emergency room would take him. the only place that i could find during the night was an animal shelter. they will fix the wing and set him free once he's ready. u could also look for phone numbers about wildlife, animal control. by the way, try not move the bird...neck injuries could cause paralysis. if the bird is very calm, then maybe try to immobilize it like with popsicle sticks.

You may not want to be touching the bird, as some of the infectious diseases that affect both birds and people can cause neurologic problems, such as incoordination, and weakness. It is most likely not a broken neck, as the bird would be dead. Unfortunately, there is most likely not much to do to help the bird. Euthanasia is the best option. I have seen too many wild birds, and our wildlife lady has tried to help them, and they died anyway. Get him to the local vet or animal shelter, and let them decide. And wash your hands!

If his neck was broken he would be dead or close to it. He may have been hit by a car, and it is very important you get him to a Vet fast. The Vet's office should have a list of people to take in wild birds and care for them. See if you can get him some help asap.

I dont know where you can take it, but try to put it somewhere safe and quiet and try to leave it alone as much as possible to avoid scaring it and causing further stress.
Don't forget, birds are wild and see us as a threat It wont understand that you are trying to help it.
Is there a vet in your area? Look in the phone book for details and give them a quick call for advice.

You know you really are a good person after saving that bird. He's probably fine now. He probably flew off a few miles before landing just to stretch his wings.

Well, birds are very delicate. I tried to cure 2 before (not at the same time) but they ended up dying because once they are hurt they usually can't go on unless they are proffesionally treated.

Lovey, for a small bird like that, it would be hard for it to survive on a bad condition you describe, I predict it is dying now, suffering and hurting, it is best to let it die fast.
Im affraid you have to leave it on the streets or drown it to death to end its suffer.
I know it sounded mean, but nothing you can do.
try to put it next to water and see in the morning...
