Please help me understand the Christian position on this -
Regarding homosexualtiy being against God because there is "no scientific evidence" that it is not a choice....... Where is the scintific evidence that there is a God and, if you are like me, you may not need any- but then, if you do not need scientific proof that there is a God- why then should God make it sooo possible that you prove homosexuality is a gene related disposition. Think ablout it-
Denying homosexual people is the same as denying God's expressions, lest we have faith that God's creations are intentional. I am not referring to people who harm others or behavior that infringes on the rights of other people...

What do you all think?

There is scientific proof that homosexuality is not a choice. There is also proof that it is nature, not nurture. Twins that grew up in the same house, raised the same way, one homosexual, one not.
If people would take their heads out of the sand and stop being so narrowminded, they would accept that and let go of the hatred and animosity.
I swear, I feel like a broken record some days.
Homo men's brains react to pheromones more like a straight woman. Lesbian's brains, like a straight male.

I think each individual person has their own unique stand on this issue, but here's mine.

Homosexuality is not against God. It would be worse to deny your sexuality and try to cover it up, because then you are denying the way God made you and in a sense defying God (obviously, I don't think it's a choice). As long as you live a good life, help people, and are charitable, God will accept you into Heaven. Whether genetics has anything to do with sexuality, I honestly don't know the answer.

All expressions are pointing up to a spiritual reflect, one way or another. God knows how he made us and we are all imperfect beings but perfect for the purpose that he created us for.

When you have same sex people coming together there is the principle of no offspring or no fruit. When you are in darkness of your creator and how he is operating in his creation then you have no spiritual growth, thus no fruit or no offspring, the offspring in this case being the Holy Spirit.

It would be ignorant of us to think that all homosexuals are against God that is why he sent his son to die for all the sin of the world and believe me, we all have sin. It's like a card game, you have to play the hand you've been dealt.

Homosexuality has a part in God's purpose just like straight people else it wouldn't excist and just like you have straight people who are in a loyal committed relationship you have homosexuals who are the same. You also have straight people who are wild and full of infidility and you have homosexuals who are the same. Who can say straight peole are justified and homosexuals are not? God is the only judge and he judges the intent and the heart of mankind, not his sexual preference.

Of course Christians are not going to accept that homosexuals are born that way and think they have a choice. Because if homosexuals are born that way, then they are God's creature, and since God is perfect, they'd have to accept something they don't want to accept. OR they'd have to admit God makes mistakes, which would shake the foundation of their faith and the sky would fall or something. Better to think that homosexuals choose to be that way, so Christians can feel superior and believe that those people are living their lives in sin through the concept of free will and are thereby shunning God.

For people who believe in God, there is no scientific evidence needed. It is all about faith. That's what faith is all about.

I doubt I'll be answering your question but being homosexual is not being against God. Homosexual sexual acts are against God. Personally, I think that people who are against homosexuals and call themselves Christians are messed up views because God calls us to love everyone.

God created Adam and Eve to produce their kind. He never created Adam and Steve. Homosexuality is not only a sin against God but it is a sin against nature. Romans 1: 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Romans 1: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Romans 1: 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Your question is one that I have asked myself over and over again, and the answer is that it is not genetic but truly a choice that we make. If every man paired up with every woman on Earth the population of the planet would more than double in the course of a couple of decades. I think love is truly unconitional, and we as mortals have no right to condem anyones right to love another person, no matter what gender the two people in question happen to be.

I think this question is a good one; however, I think it illustrates the stale-mate that has been plaguing theists and atheists since long before the advent of Yahoo! Answers.

Each side supposes that the burdon of proof lies with the other. Perhaps efforts should be made jointly to discover the meaning of life, the differences in people (sex, cultures, other beliefs).

Nah, that won't work. People are to set in their ways, far too stubborn to open their minds to other possibilities.

Nevermind. I think my response was a total pipe dream.

Some Christians believe that homosexuality is a curse and that you can indeed be born with a desire to be with someone of the same sex. Having homosexual feelings isn't a sin; its acting on those feelings that is the sin. However, ANY sex outside of marriage is a sin. And all sin is sin.... one sin isn't bigger than any other sin.
Many Christians believe those with homosexual feelings should not act on those feelings and if they don't want to get married to someone of the opposite sex then they need to abstain from sex.

Go read Romans Ch 1 v. 18ff Homosexuality is one result of rejecting God. God allows you to be a homosexual, because you will not hear truth. Being homosexual is not a good place to be-it means God has given up on you. Think about it.
