I am sick and tired of seeing questions here that are putting Atheist down, I am Atheist and dam proud of it. I do not believe there is a god and that is my problem....SO DO NOT PRAY FOR ME, I do not need it and stop saying you feel sorry for atheist and will pray for them because they do not need it.....we are all fine, in fact we are probably better off then the rest of you because we do not put all our hopes and dreams in the hands of something that does not exist....I am 30 years old, I have a great job, I own my house, I have 2 wonderful children and I am happily married. And I did this all myself and am very dam proud of it...
So please tell why it is the Atheist are put down all the time?

im an atheist to,
seriously if you dont like it, just remember, these are people who think there is a man in the sky who threw fireballs at the earth,
so, its like, does it really bother you that you are being "prayed" for by someone who is sorta the equivalent of those people on one flew over the kokoos nest?

I understand how you feel b/c I am an atheist too. People don't need to try and convert me . . . I have thought long and hard about religion (I still think about it all the time) and I have questioned what I used to believe (I was a Catholic). After years of opining, I have concluded that atheism is the only thing that makes sense. Therefore, I don't appreciate it when a Chrisitan comes along and tells me that I live an "empty existence," just because they never had the strength or foresight to question what they believe.
It is sooo easy to take things at face value -- look a little deeper and question your religious beliefs. If they are valid, then there shouldn't be a problem. If they aren't, then why do you still believe? Atheists shouldn't have to answer for their decision on religion any more than Christians should.

Putting you down would not come from a true Christian who would only want to help you.
We look at it as if you are walking towards certain death and want to let you know that it doesn't have to be that way.
Having a job and a good life is not what we are here to achieve. It is way more than that and will last a lot longer than our 75 years here. You do not have to have or be involved with God to have a good life here. However you have to have and except Jesus for what comes after this life!! And that is what we are trying to show people!
Now for you to say that something does not exist what are you basing that on?? If you do not believe in a Creator than you must believe in the Religion of Evolution?! Talk about something that doesn't exist!! Evolution is based more on Faith than beliveing in God!! That is a fact! There has been absolutely zero evidence of evolution and I mean ZERO, NONE! Not a fossil or anything of the sort! The Bible has fact after fact that has stood the test of time and not only is accurate but has proved science wrong along the way. (i.g. science at one time thought the world was flat...the Bible stated over 3,500 years ago the world was sphere).
I have no problem with your decision to be an Atheist, I am hoping that it is an educated decision not just a because it doesn't suit your life decision. Especially because you have 2 young children that you will be having an impact on.
Once upon a time not to long ago I had an issue....I belived in Evolution(however i did believe in God as well, but realized that is not possible to believe in both)! After thinking to myself that this maybe a bit to important of a thing to just push to the side I decided to do some homework/investigating about Evolution and found that it is an absolute impossibilty! So the only thing left was the Creator! is it based on absolute fact? In a way yes I believe that it is impossible to have Evolution and though there are no absolute facts regarding the existence of God there are plenty of signs in my life and outside my life to know in my heart and mind that God exists!
Again I decided to see for myself by researching the issue. You see I have 3 children and one just turned 5 months old the other day. I would hate to have to think to myself one day that I was to ignorant to do a little research to seek the truth and oops made a mistake! Sorry kids!! You think its bad on a road trip with your kids, how about an eternity with no A/C, now thats Hell!!
Good luck and congrats on the good life so far!
One more thing...if you don't want me to pray for you that's okay by me but I will be praying for your kids!

>>>I am sick and tired of seeing questions here that are putting Atheist down<<<
But you're apparently not sick and tired of all the questions from atheists that put Christians down.
"Questions" from atheists putting Christians down far outnumber the questions that go the other way around.
Read through the questions that are posted on here every day; after you do, you cannot deny with a straight face that this is happening.

Well, I believe everyone has the right to their own beliefs, and I don't care what anyone else thinks of me and my way of seeing "god" if I'd like to call it god.
The question here is why are you giving them so much importance if you don't care about their beliefs?
They're put down because, depending on the religion, atheists are a religious project or sinners. Either way, they're entitled to think like that, they were raised this way, it's up to them to look further from religion and look at people instead of christians, muslims or wathever.
I don't believe people's quality depends on their religious beliefs.

You will never be tolerated or respected by theists. It goes against everything that they believe. Their intolerance of you is part of their very concept of reality. The ONLY way to gain acceptance in this society (American) as an atheist... is to educate the masses, and get these people to wake up.
As long as they are a part of this hateful cult that infests our entire culture, they will never understand anything else. I'm fighting as best I can here, and in my community. If you can spare the time and energy, I'd suggest you attempt the same.
Good luck!

Amen sister!!! I couldn't have said it better myself. I am happier as an Atheist than I ever was as a Christian.
I have found the truth and the truth has set me free. I am not angry, I am not empty, I enjoy every day for what it is, I accept responsibility for my own actions.
what more could a guy want?

Why do the atheists continue to come to this category and attack Christians? if you don't believe in God, why not visit politics, or hobbies, or health? It's a shame you are raising two children to be lost though. I don't believe I'd be bragging about that. Poor little guys.

Good for you! I am an Atheist and also very proud of it. I wish believers could understand we are happy with our lives. We are not waiting to be saved or looking to find god. I believe in myself and I can do anything I put my mind to. I am happy, loved and successful without god.

Because of the need to throw this sort of thing in the face of people that do beleive in God! Are you projecting?
I'm glad you have a house and a great job, etc. But those things are temporary and not eternal. I have those temporary things and eternal hope through Jesus Christ. Only one of those things will last.
