At the very least they know their loved ones are grieving for them, and sometimes they communicate peace and reassurance.

Yes, some people can talk to the dead, and then there are people who just take your money and lie. The dead only know certain things. If you want to know things about your life or path try consulting your spirit guides.

It is said that the spirits of the dead can see what is going on in this life. I believe it states so, in the Holy Bible God that christians call a book.
Some people have a talent in connecting to dead spirits, some spirits have been taken so fast they do not realize they are dead.
I think it truly based on your beliefs when you die what happens to you on the other side. If you believe in hell and you think you are deserving of going there you are given hell as the reward you have sault. When you die from a long illness say you have time to define what you believe in, when you die suddenly you haven't been given time to prepare for the death, and some get lost on the way.
Whatever the ins and outs of it, I do believe you can talk to the dead, seek information from them, if they have learned to communicate with you. For any communication it is a 2 way street.

Consulting the dead is just another CON!
What could a dead person know that would be of value to you or us?? NOTHING! Dead is DEAD.
Not nice to think about but Brains are one of the first things to Decay or Rot.

I wonder this as well. If they didn't know bugger all in life what would give them infinite knowledge once they were dead. I would think the capacity for learning would be limited considering they are no longer involved so to speak. The messages seem so disjointed as well, no real cut and dry stuff. I like to think those gone over are interested and looking out for us but considering that many that I know who have passed over were as dumb as a bag of hammers I question what sort of spirit advice they could give. Interesting thought you have there, thanks for sharing it. P.S. Just because they weren't the smartest folk didn't mean I didn't love them dearly, oh what a wonderful thing it would be if they did let me know they are still around!

No. The dead know nothing and cannot do anything. This is just another way for Satan to deceive people. It all started in the Garden of Eden. Eve was told she would die if she ate fruit from that one certain tree and Satan told her she wouldn't. Just more lies stemming from that first lie. So now people are deceived thinking they can talk to "the dead" and the Devil is lovin' it.

Anyone who thinks the dead can be contacted knows nothing.
Dead is as final as it gets. Dead people no longer exist - they are so dead that they cannot even be contacted by cell phone or pager and do not respond to emails.

Since you're asking in this category, you may consult the Bible and read scriptures that indicate that the dead are conscious of nothing. So no...they can't be consulted.

the " dead" or spirit as i like to call them cant be consulted on matters that we don't have knowledge to our self .. they don't give future predictions etc
the reason people pass on messages from spirit is simply to pass on the message that death is not the end
they may have a limited amount of knowledge that we don't know of but whether they would give us that knowledge or not is a different matter .. as we have free will and spirit would not interfere with our lives in such ways

Ummm okay this i have to object to...YES. there are those who make money off of poor sumeratins that dont know any better. But then there are those who actually do it as part of their religion. For example, i think some form of santeria does it and is actually able to communicate...I've witnessed some crazy ouji board crap. And there is always a constant battle with angels and demons for humans. I do believe there is but i dont think the person that died is the one your communicating with. I think it's the demons trying to posses you and make you feel vunlnerable enough for you to belive that your actually talking to the person who died....but thats just my opinion...and i might be stoned
