I have a friend I had became a pen-pal with while he was in jail. I wrote him for over 2 years. I never made it seem like we were going to be together, but he fell in love. When he got out I told him to live his life and find someone. But he really is in love with me and wants to be with me and will do anything for me. He's not really my type when it comes to looks, but he is a sweet heart and will bend over backwards for me. He's a really good friend. Should I give him a chance? But my guards are really up hi because of the past relationships I've been in and gotten hurt. What should I do? I don't even know how to show him affection.

Hang out with him more but with no promises of a future. See what happens. If something is going to develop, it'll happen naturally. If not, then hey, at least you gave him a chance right?

He was in jail huh? Sounds like a winner already lol. Just give him a chance and just let him know it's going to be non-exclusive dating for now. Let him know that you're not sure about things because of what happened to you in the past. Hopefully he'll be cool with it and if not, then don't bother dating him at all. He may just want to be exclusive so if you're not ready for that then don't bother with him. You'll just end up getting hurt or hurting him which isn't good because you don't want him to end up back in jail for killing your dates! lol Oh, I don't really think you can fall in love with someone over letter writing. That's why you need to give this some time. He may just think he's in love because he's been living with men for the last two years. I would fall in love too.

Start with being friends only and do things with him you might be surprised how well you might be good with each other. Tell him you need to take things slow and gain trust that trust is important to you and honesty. Comunication is the key thing in relationships friends or not. Do not commit to anything you are not sure off , it will lead to disater but i have to say i would take being treated like gold the looks any day and i am sure in time you will see something that will atract you but you are scared right now and dont want to. Time,babysteps are impotant.
